Truth

There's just something about this picture that resonates truth so strongly. But truth in a vacuum is not actual truth. Only when the author of truth enters the picture does truth become reality.

Any thoughts?

The picture to me represents light, tranquility, which is a sense of peace, calm quiet and free from disturbance. At times when I seek truth there is dissonance and I so desire that the author of truth would enter the picture. But then I think that is where trust must prevail in who I beleive to be the author of truth--God the Father, Son and Spirit. So as I pursue truth I must have trust and faith that the Author of Truth will enlighten my heart and the truth become reality.

To me the picture represents the peace of God that transcends all my understanding.

When I look at the picture I see what appears to be a far east religious temple in the background, with the brillant SON shinning in saying, even you can know the truth, if you just let me in. There are fish to be caught but the fishers are few.

Anonymous -- Glad you picked up on the Taj Mahal in the background. It has a lot of significance to the idea of truth in this context.

I think the traditional church would consider it dangerous for someone to have a spiritual experience looking at this photo. The rationale would be that there are elements here that sincerely speak truth to our souls, however, the danger of then moving into that truth without Jesus as a foundation is too great of a risk. So stay away.

I tend to think in reverse. Admit that we find truth in a lot of things (art, music, literature, relationships), and then work inside those truths to walk a person into a knowledge and awareness of the Author of truth.

Instead of having to know Jesus before you find truth, how about we use truth to lead us to Jesus. Or as a friend says, do what Paul did in Acts.

Note: The thoughts expressed herein were influenced by a number of people, including Erwin McManus and Becky Bruckner.

Ah, but you communicate so much more succintly than me!! Thanks for putting words to what I've been trying to express.
And once I can get blogger to publish--thanks for letting me steal your boat theme.

I have been thinking alot about "truth" the last few days and I agree with Troy "that we find truth in a lot of things (art, music, literature, relationships), and then work inside those truths to walk a person into a knowledge and awareness of the Author of truth."

I myself don't always know where to land my feet in regards to what I believe to be truth, but in my time of silence and solitude this morning my thoughts were led to the statements Jesus made to his diciples as they too were seeking and asking for the way. John 14:6,Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life" ... John 16:12 "But when the`Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth."

I do thank God for the relationships I have who influence my heart towards the author of Truth.

Perhaps another way of phrasing the thread about truth is a phrase I have come to respect and believe. "All truth is God's truth."

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel!" I feel like this picture sometimes - like there is this huge world (mosque) of unbelievers that need to hear the truth and I am so far away and am so little. But this reminds me that Jesus (sun) is so much more powerful than me and while He may use me He will also use many other ways. I just need to keep paddling and keep my eyes fixed on Him.

There is a huge world of unbeliervers that need to hear about Jesus....but to often we use that as an excuse to not share Jesus with a friend or neighbor....we need to have a world vision but it should start at home.
