Wake Up, O Sleeper

[E]verything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:

“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Be very careful, then, how you live -- not as unwise but as wise…because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. [Ephesians 4:13-17]

Night is weighing heavy now
Be quiet and wait for a voice that will say

Come awake, from sleep arise
You were dead, become alive
Wake up, wake up, open your eyes
Climb from your grave into the light

Bring us back to life

Sometimes the strongest acts in life don't come from power -- but submission.

Troy, as I understand the will of God for my life I am very much aware that if I am to do His will it is through His divine power that gives me everything I need for living a godly life and that He has promised that by that same power I will escape the decadence all around me caused by evil desires. II Peter 1:3-8 is a passage that gives me great hope in how to live out Eph 4.

Blessings!

Anonymous: So true. I couldn't have said it better myself.

2 Peter 1:3-8 (NIV)
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amazing passage, Jean. Thanks for sharing. I love you!
